This recipe I have had for a long time and don’t remember where I got it. It makes a really easy dinner you can just set and forget about for a few hours.
Ingredients:
1 large (28 0z) can of crushed tomatoes
1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper
1 small package fresh sliced mushrooms
1 cup water
1 and 1/2 cups pasta of choice
spices of your choosing: 1 tsp garlic power, onion powder, basil, italian seasoning, oregano, parsley.
Directions: In a fry pan saute the onion, green pepper and mushroom or cook on a little vegetable broth until soft. Drain off any remaining liquid. Place in crock pot with the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water and spices. Cook on high for 2 hours. Add the pasta and stir well and cook for another hour on high until pasta is cooked through. (NOTE: I have made this many times with wheat pasta and the pasta is done about an hour later . I just tried it gluten free with a brown rice pasta and it was done much quicker and became kind of mushy so if you want gluten free I would check it every 15 minutes because those noodles cook differently.)
