This is a basic hummus recipe. It is nice and smooth and you can add a lot of different things to change it up. We found this recipe in the food network magazine.
Ingredients:
1 15 oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 Tbl baking soda
1/2 cup tahini
1/4 cup water that the chickpeas were simmered in.
1 garlic clove
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
Juice of one lemon
Directions: Put the chickpeas in a saucepan. Cover them well with water and stir in baking soda. Simmer for 20 minutes and drain. Put all the ingredients in a high speed blender and puree until smooth and creamy. Add to bowl and sprinkle with paprika. Serve with pita bread and or vegetables. You can add roasted red pepper, pesto or other flavors as you want.
